kkkHere we rant and bitch and gripe about things that piss us off, no big deal.  I feel that we have legitimate reasons but we don’t expect everyone to agree with us about everything.  Politics, the economy, jobs, etc. it’s the stuff everyone bitches about but today I came across an article about a new and growing trend that is actually scary.  It seems the there is a growing rise in hate groups and I’m talking about the hard core groups, since the election and even before, no doubt.

- Report: the number of hate groups grew by 54 percent since 2000
- Obama’s election win fueled some to join hate groups, study found
-The FBI’s uniform crime report found 7,624 hate crime incidents in 2007
-Obama is a “visual aid” that helps lure new members, says neo-Nazi

Groups like the KKK are seeing a rise in membership that is unprecedented in modern times.  Just look at the history of the KKK and imagine them taking hold today.  Scary.

Now, if you’re going to have a problem with Obama, fine, but for God’s sake, make sure it’s for the right reasons!  If you don’t like his politics, fine, but if you just dislike, or hate the man for his skin color, that’s just wrong.  It seems like that is the galvanizing issue for too many people.

On the day after Obama’s historic election, more than 2,000 people joined his Web site, a remarkable increase from the approximately 80 new members a day he was getting, Black said. His Web site, which was started in 1995, is one of the oldest and largest hate group sites. The site received so many hits that it crashed after election results were announced. The site boasts 110,000 registered members today, Black said.

Hey, I freely admit I harbor prejudice and even hate, to a degree, but it’s not because of who or what a person is, it’s because of a person’s actions. I despise trash, human trash, and that comes is every color. I hate people who use, abuse and take advantage of others, people who lie and scheme, steal and hurt and kill. They deserve the enmity. I am not a tolerant person but in general I like to have a “real” reason for me lack of tolerance, not some vague “idea” that has no real basis is reality.

As for immigrants, another target of hate groups, this country was built on immigrants.  I don’t have a problem with immigrants as long as they are here legally.  That’s not too much to ask.  Sure, yeah, I have a problem with illegals but because they are illegal, not because of who they are or their skin color.

Hasn’t racial hate and prejudice taken enough of a toll in this world already and in many places it still does.  When are people going to recognize that people are people are people.  Good and bad, intelligent and stupid and any other tag you could come up with come in every color, race, sex… no one has a monopoly.

In my life I have had friends of many races and nationalities. Admittedly at first you do notice the physical and cultural differences but after a while as you get to know the person, they become less and less apparent and what you see if just another person, a friend.

People, get over it! This is the 21st century.  It really pisses me off that people can be so low and just plain ignorant! Don’t we have enough to worry about, to be scared about, to be angry and upset about with bringing back to the forefront such outdated thinking as what these hate groups are serving up?
