Ok, I have a confession to make.  For most of my life I admit that I have been mostly apolitical.  I’ve called myself an Independent mostly because I didn’t pay enough attention to politics to actually choose a side.  Pathetic, isn’t it?

Well, a few months ago I started opening my eyes to what’s been going on around me.  I live in Wisconsin, it’s my adopted home state for more than a dozen years now.  For the past few years, in the peripheral, I’ve notice little things about this wonderful state disintegrating; morals, ethics, the hard work ethic, etc.  I’ve seen taxes go up and up and up and seen nothing in return.  Some of the very reasons I moved from the east coast to WI were disintegrating before my very eyes and the more I tried to find out why, the more my research took me in the direction of the politicians, specifically the left leaning politicians of this state.

And The Education Begins…

Last November I decided it was time to stand up and show that I had a voice.  I researched the political candidates; the platforms they were running on, their past records, anything I could find, then I made my decisions using the information I gathered and voted.  I voted based on the principals that I myself practice; fiscal responsibility, don’t spend what you don’t have, smaller govn’t because I have a brain and am a reasonably intelligent person and can make my own decisions in my life. I also admit that I basically voted against most any incumbent on the ticket because obviously they weren’t doing the job for WI, they were only doing the job for themselves or for special interests or they didn’t have a position with enough strength to make any kind of change.  Time to ring in the new.  In the end Wisconsinites seem to be feeling the same way.  Most incumbents out with Conservatives taking control and leading the way.  Now it was time to wait and see what would happen.

It didn’t take long.  Governor Scott Walker took office and hit the ground running! He inherited a state with a $137 million budget deficit with approximately a $3.7 billion shortfall in the 2011-13 budget.  There’s also a $58.7 million payment to the State of Minnesota after the end of a tax-reciprocity agreement between Wisconsin and its neighbor; as well as an additional $200 million that the state is under court order to return to a medical malpractice fund.

NOTE – I’m going to try to do a brief overview here, way too much to go into detail on and there are so many details and so much that has happened here in WI since Gov. Walker took office.  I hadn’t planned on even getting into this but day after day and week after week my frustration level has risen to the point that I need to speak out.  The propaganda, misinformation and outright lies that are surrounding this debacle in WI are just mind boggling!  I went into this open-minded and read and researched, talked to people and listened to differing opinions and as someone who has considered their self to be politically Independent,  I have found myself moving further and further to the right!

As for Gov. Walker, one of his promises was to bring/create 250k jobs in WI and in his first step to do this he has implemented measures to make WI business friendly by offering incentives to bring new businesses in.

The first bill would provide a total personal income or corporate tax break for two years for businesses that relocate to Wisconsin. The incentive would be retroactive to Jan. 1 and would lower state revenue by an estimated $1 million over two years. Firms receiving it cannot have done business in the state for at least two years before moving here.

The second bill would add $25 million to the Economic Development Tax Credit program, bringing it to $98.1 million. The credits can go to businesses that locate or retain corporate headquarters in Wisconsin, create jobs, make capital investments or train workers. (JSonline)

Then the left starts throwing out accusations that Gov. Walker basically manufactured the budget deficit and handed out $140 million in tax breaks and spending which was proven to be blatantly false.

The Budget Repair Bill; The War is On!

Knowing that the upcoming budget was going to include massive cuts to balance WI’s budget shortfall, Gov. Walker unveiled his Budget Repair Bill. The idea behind the bill was to “balance the budget and lay the foundation for a long-term sustainable budget through several measures without raising taxes, raiding segregated funds, or using accounting gimmicks.”

The most obviously contentious provision of the bill was it’s aim to reign in the power of the public sector unions by eliminating collective bargaining for all but wages and increase public employees contribution to their health coverage and retirement by 12% and 5.8% respectively.  This included all public sector unions with the exclusion of police officers and firefighters.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, has said he excluded the two groups from the bill—which curbs benefits and strips public-employee unions of nearly all collective-bargaining rights—to ensure that their critical public-safety work would continue free of disruptions or delays that such changes could cause. (WJS)

One of the components regarding unions included that no longer would the govn’t collect unions dues.  Public employees would have the option of sending them in or not and you can imagine that this didn’t sit too well with the unions.

Sure, there was a lot more to the Budget Repair Bill but in Gov. Walker’s bid to limit the unions’ power and get their hands out of the pocket of the taxpayer, he had figuratively thrown down the gauntlet and the reaction was as if they, the public workers and unions, had been sentenced to death, and maybe, in a way, they had to a degree.

Let The Protests Begin!

First, 17 hours of hearings and it didn’t take long for the Capitol to be overrun with throngs of people.  And then WI’s “honorable” Democratic Senators, instead of doing their job, decided to flee the state to IL on 2/17, ostensibly to give the public time to learn what was in the Budget Repair Bill. The 61 hours of debate in the Assembly to pass the House since the Senate Dems were holding the state of WI hostage by stalling the Bill in the Senate.

Three weeks later, after our beautiful Capitol had been occupied with people living and sleeping and protesting inside and out, the Democrat Senators were still refusing to return and do their jobs.  During that time, all the while saying they would be willing to give in to the financial concessions, the unions were scurrying around negotiating new contracts and contract extensions (Just a few examples 1, 2, 3 ).  Kind of makes you wonder the real reason the Dems were staying away, doesn’t it?  Oh, and many, if not most of these contracts of course did not include the concessions that the unions said they would be willing to give… surprise, surprise!  Some of them even included raises, even after the 2011-13 Budget was unveiled showing about a billion dollars in cuts!

And as our Capitol was awash in protesters, the MSM continuously portrayed the protests as civil and peaceful.  You didn’t hear them talk about the damage, approximately $350k worth, to the Capitol.  You didn’t hear about them defacing the Civil War Monument, you didn’t see the signs; vile and profane, to put it mildly, and much, much more.

With this Change, There is No Hope

Obama wants a “path to citizenship” for all law abiding illegals.

First and foremost one has to chuckle at the absurdity of this statement. How can one possibly be a law abiding illegal immigrant? Doesn’t the President realize that there IS a path to citizenship that already exists??? If this comes to pass, tell me where is the incentive for anyone, from anywhere to migrate here legally??

Yet again Barak INSANE Obama is rewarding bad behavior.

Mr Hussien Obama should pay more attention to what our government is supposed to do vs. what he “feels” we should do. By this, I mean our government is supposed to protect our sovereignty NOT mandate that our middle school children preform 50 hours per year of community service and our high schoolers’ mandated to preform 100 hours per year of community service.

Note: This bill, being called Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, passed the house yesterday.

Hey Soldier, Pay Your Own Medical Bills!

Our government will bail you out with taxpayer money if you brought more house than you could afford and are now facing foreclosure. Our government will bail out your business that is failing due to poor management, excessive bonuses and a poor business model. Our government is even trying to ensure that illegal immigrants and their children have health insurance benefits.

Now, this same government that his handing out taxpayer money hand over fist, taxpayer money that has not actually yet been collected but rather will be collected from future generations, is now contemplating having military personnel injured while on duty pay their own medical bills. Eric Shinseki,Veterans Affairs Secretary confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance. Lawmakers told the administration that it would be “dead on arrival” if sent to Congress.

This country is being invaded by illegal immigrants as our government sits idly by. Currently, Atlanta is not yet seeing the same levels of violence that some other major Us cities are, such as Phoniex, AZ, but make no mistake, it is escalating.

How’s this for a plan Uncle Sam, get rid of the pork from the stimulus package and use the funds, currently being earmarked to study manure and tattoo removal, to hire on more law enforcement and DEA agents, prosecutors, correctional officers and contractors and builders to build more prisons to detain the illegal immigrants.

Illegals, I might add, that broke the law to get here and continue to break the law and endanger our citizens once they are within our borders. Funds confiscated from those smuggling other illegals, drugs or other contraban could be used to pay officers and run the prisons. Imagine the jobs created just by enforcing our laws and punishing those who break them, not to mention the by-product of having safer places to live for Americans.

In a city where Coca Cola, United Parcel Service and Home Depot are the titans of industry, there are new powerful forces on Atlanta’s block: Mexican drug cartels.

Their presence and ruthless tactics are largely unknown to most here. Yet, of the 195 U.S. cities where Mexican drug-trafficking organizations are operating, federal law enforcement officials say Atlanta has emerged as the new gateway to the troubled Southwest border.

Rival drug cartels, the same violent groups warring in Mexico for control of routes to lucrative U.S. markets, have established Atlanta as the principal distribution center for the entire eastern U.S., according to the Justice Department’s National Drug Intelligence Center.

In fiscal year 2008, federal drug authorities seized more drug-related cash in Atlanta — about $70 million — than any other region in the country, Drug Enforcement Administration records show.

651,000 Jobs Cut in FEB — Reid, Pelosi, Obama  &  Chamber of Commerce Insist on Importing More Foreign Workers

By Roy Beck

Another month has passed. Another half-million (or more) jobs have been lost. And our federal leaders continue to do nothing about auto-pilot programs that are flooding our country with foreign workers.

Nothing has changed since last year when 138,000 new foreign workers were added to the U.S. each month on average.

Here are the latest government facts that can’t seem to soften the hardened hearts of our leaders . . . .

  • The official unemployment rate has soared to 8.1% (highest since 1983)
  • U.S. employers cut 651,000 jobs in February -That is on top of 655,000 jobs lost in January and 681,000 jobs cut in December.
  • 4.4 million — Total jobs eliminated since the recession began in December of 2007.

The number of Americans reeling from the bad job market is staggering:

  • 12.5 million Americans are actively looking for a job and cannot find even part-time employment.
  • Another 8.6 million Americans want a full-time job and have been forced to work part-time.

First Lt. Michael BehennaArmy officer, First Lt. Michael Behenna facing a murder charge testified Thursday that he shot and killed an Iraqi after the detainee reached for his gun during an interrogation.

First Lt. Michael Behenna said he was trying to defend himself and hadn’t planned to shoot the detainee when he took him aside for questioning in the Iraqi desert. Behenna of Edmond, Okla. is charged with premeditated murder, assault and making a false statement. The premeditated murder charge carries a mandatory life sentence without parole. Forgive me but wouldn’t all killing at a time of war be considered premeditated?? Surely people didn’t think our troops were sent there to play tiddlywinks.

Prosecutors argue that Behenna intended to kill Ali Mansour Mohammed in May 2008 during an interrogation near a secluded railroad culvert near a U.S. military base. They’ve said Behenna had no remorse for the killing and justified it to others by saying Mohammed was a bad man.

BalancingI’m one of those people who has always tried to avoid anything that smacks of politics because I don’t agree with either side enough to call myself one or the other.  It depends on the issue for me.

When it comes to the Republicans, to me it seems as if they don’t seem to really give a damn about your average American, they’re in it for the big guys and big bucks.  Handling out tax breaks to the ones who need it the least.

When it comes to the Democrats, it looks like they don’t really care about the average American either, they want to save the poor, the indigent, the illegals.  They want to hand out tax money, my hard earned money to people who sit on their asses with their hands out whining “feel sorry for me.”

Sure, there are some people who truly need help and that’s different but to continue to hand out money to able-bodied people who can work but who find it easier to play the government game, no, sorry, stop being damn leeches on society!

With all this money that the current administration is handing out in an effort to stimulate the economy, luckily Obama is demanding some accounting for where it’s going and what it’s being spent on.  How well that is actually going to work out only time will tell.  We can only hope we won’t see the same kind of abuses the banking system and Wall Street has been able to get away with since Bush just handed them billions and let them do with it whatever they wanted.  Yeah, love those trips and bonuses, they sure earned that as the companies deteriorated and continue to deteriorate.

The Plan

Now this has been incorrectly attributed to Robin Williams, the fact is the no one really knows who wrote this, except for the last statement, which is a genuine Robin Williams quote.  Bottom line is, doesn’t matter who came up with it, the sentiment is excellent!!

The Plan

‘I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here’s one plan.’

  • ‘The US will apologize to the world for our ‘interference’ in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those ‘good ‘ole’ boys’, we will never ‘interfere’ again.
  • We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East , and the Philippines They don’t want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.
  • All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave.  We’ll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They’re illegal!!! France will welcome them. Read the rest of this entry
